Frankfurt is to Germany what Milan is to Italy. It is the commerce capital, the only German city with a skyline. We hopped the metro downtown for a couple of hours on the layover en route to Dublin and discovered attractive bridge views, a few wiener stands, unusual highly pruned trees growing regularly out of cement courtyards, and LOTS of shopping. I'm not feeling too desperate to get back to Frankfurt, but I imagine it's a nice city to live in, if not a whirlwind for the two hour visitor.
