Oh my...

I'm not sure how I missed "Barbie Girl" when it came out in the U.S.  What's important is that my students have now corrected my mistake, bringing me back to the realm of cool.  Of course, you could argue that the song came out ten years ago, and developing an appreciation for it now is so passe.  No matter...my appreciation for the song will be forever tied to this impromptu performance in my class today.  I don't even remember how it came up.  I just know that I was flabbergasted that, 1) my students were singing a song in English that I did not know, and 2) that they were almost ALL singing.  For those of you who are wondering, yes, we actually do get some work done in class.  Sometimes.  In retrospect, I'm glad that I missed the U.S. premiere so that I could be there for THIS premiere.  Check out the link:

Just watched the Barbie video for the third time, Brett, and your affection for that age group is contagious. You're lucky to have one another!
My attention is drawn to the girl in the red sweater - arms folded, definitely in a corner, body still.
Thanks for two delightful posts in a row - hope these school daze continue to make you feel happy and enthused! Love, J
