Top 5 Facts you (DID NOT KNOW?) about Belgium

1. The smurfs are Belgian. Yep, that's right. The little blue ones. Invented by a Belgian.
2. Belgium has more castles in every mile square than any other nation on the planet.
3. Adolph Sax (get it?) invented the saxaphone in Belgium in the 19th century.
4. The spa town "Spa", from which all other spas get their name, is located in Belgium.
5. Brett and I are headed to Brussels on December 13th for a serious 24 hour dose of Christmas - gingerbread, ice skating, lights, and a traditional Christmas market. Whoo hoo!

Oh, and the capital of Belgium is also the headquarters of the E.U. and NATO, produces 172,000 tons of chocolate every year, and serves over 400 types of beer (including white and raspberry). No wonder people sometimes call it the European capital.

Doug and Mary Beth will be so jealous; they yearn to visit Belgium for the beers. As for me, I'd have to bring a bad American beer.
